Welcome to Kotpad NAC

Kotpad is a town on the extreme end of Odisha border in Koraput district. The nearest township in Chhattisgarh is Jagadalpur with which it has a regular business link. The town was known as Kotpadu meaning destroyed fort in Telugu as per the records of brithish raj. The town has a very old fort area with a water body surrounding it. The old remnants of the fort structure are still available in the town. On the other sense, it may be called s “South gate” of odisha. The Kotpad Gram Panchayat was converted into a Notified Area Council with effect from 1960 vide Govt. notification No. 3002/LSG, dated 24.04.1960 of the erstwhile local self govt. and started functioning with 01.05.1960. NAC, Kotpad has its historical importance for Gulmi & Chitrakut Temple besides this people around the world irrespective of caste, creed, religion & nationality, so the people from different area are coming regularly to visit these places. To make urbanize this area by declaring NAC from 1960, even if most of the people are living in slum. However it’s total area of NAC is 13 sq.km & its population's is 16326 having 13 nos. of wards.
